An Album of Shared Memories Celebrating the National Lakeshore
We have traveled here, sometimes for generations, and created memories of family vacations, weddings, canoe trips, campfires, and hikes. Some of us had family homes and farms that are now part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
What is your story?
The Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes is creating a crowdsourced book chronicling the historic passage of time in our Park area through photos and text in celebration of the Park’s 50th Anniversary.
The Book committee is comprised of Friends Volunteers. We are looking for images that fit within the overarching criteria of Pre-Park (before 1970) and the decades following until this year – the Park’s 50th anniversary.
We are seeking images that capture the unique areas, features, and activities that take place in the Park and at nearby attractions. You may have photos taken at the dune climb, Empire bluffs or at Glen Haven or any of your favorite places in and around the Park. Perhaps you have a photo of your favorite activity in the Park such as swimming, biking, cross country skiing, or hiking.
The deadline for consideration is March 1, 2021.
The book is planned to be hardcover, 128 pages, full-color, 11”x8.5”
The owners of photos selected for the book will get:
Submit your photos through our website submission file or via mail. We will return your photos after we make electronic copies.
Please download and fill out the Photo Submission Form and send it along with your photos.
