2009 Port Oneida Fair

The 2009 Port Oneida Fair was held August 7 & 8 in the Port Oneida Rural Historic District of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It was held on 7 historic sites including the Port Oneida Schoolhouse, Kelderhouse cemetery, and 5 historic farmsteads. Many of the farm buildings were open to the public during the Fair.

Visitors found demonstrations of farm life during the late 1800s and early 1900s, plenty of hands-on activities for the kids, and artisans demonstrating their arts & crafts. The Port Oneida Fair posters were also be on sale at the Fair. There were several types of transportation including horse-drawn wagons, buses, and hiking trails for you to go from one location to the next.

Learning about broom-making was a popular activity
